WORDS FROM OUR FAMILIES
Parents’ experiences at Pinky Promised Childcare.
“She goes above and beyond to make sure the children in her care feel loved, supported, and valued.”
I cannot recommend this daycare provider enough. She is one of the kindest, most caring, and attentive people I have ever met. She treats my children with so much love, patience, and understanding, and I always know that their needs are being met and that they are safe and cared for.
As a parent, trusting someone else with your children is not easy, but she is the only daycare provider I have ever felt completely comfortable and confident leaving my children with. That kind of trust means everything to me. She goes above and beyond to make sure the children in her care feel loved, supported, and valued.
I am incredibly grateful to have found someone who cares for my children as genuinely as she does. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to any parent looking for a safe, loving, and dependable daycare provider. Knowing your children are in good hands brings a peace of mind that is truly priceless, and she provides exactly that.
“Alesha is such a great daycare teacher! She is so kind and patient with all of the kids in her care. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing my babies are in such good hands with her!”
“Alesha has provided wonderful care for both of my children, making sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while in her care. She is attentive to their individual needs, provides a nurturing environment, and makes sure they are well cared for throughout the day. I appreciate the patience, kindness, and dedication she shows my kids, and I’m grateful to have someone I can trust to care for them as if they were her own.”
“Alesha and her team put so much thought and effort into creating special memories for the children and supporting us as parents, too.”
I cannot say enough wonderful things about our daycare provider, Alesha! As a parent, one of the most important things is knowing your children are in safe, loving, and trustworthy hands, and I have complete peace of mind while my kids are with her. She treats them with so much care, patience, and love, and it truly means the world to our family - along with her assistants.
One of the things I appreciate most is how she goes above and beyond to make daycare such a fun and meaningful experience for the kids. From planning field trips and incorporating educational activities into their days to hosting movie/pizza nights so us parents can enjoy a much-needed break. Alesha and her team put so much thought and effort into creating special memories for the children and supporting us as parents, too.
We are so thankful for the effort Alesha puts into making our son and daughter’s childhood special & for always caring so well for our kids!
ROOM TO BE LITTLE
Small discoveries make a big difference. Here, learning grows through caring relationships, everyday play, and the freedom to wonder.See an example of our play-based learning
Seeds, soil, rocks, leaves, and a whole lot of curiosity. Hands-on exploration invites children to notice, predict, create, and try again.
Gardening, outdoor exploring, and imaginative play make room for movement, problem-solving, and the joy of being a child.
We practice naming feelings, asking for help, taking calming breaths, and showing kindness. Connection helps confidence take root.
A LOOK AT OUR LEARNING
Explore a few activities from our program and the everyday skills they encourage.
Children fill cups with soil, count their seeds, and add water. Watching for little changes gives them a reason to observe, ask questions, and care for something living.
Simple materials. Meaningful moments.
AN EXAMPLE OF OUR PLAY-BASED LEARNING
Our produce curriculum: from planting to tasting to a day at the farm.
What does play-based learning look like? In our fruits-and-vegetables curriculum, children learned by doing—planting, exploring, reading, tasting, and cooking. Here’s how the learning unfolded, step by step.
Children planted seeds, watered them each day, and grew produce. Caring for living plants connected our everyday routines with growth, patience, and responsibility.
Learning in action: science, observation, and caring for living things.
We read books and learned the names, colors, and shapes of fruits and vegetables. The foods children met in stories became real things to notice, describe, and explore.
Learning in action: vocabulary, early literacy, and noticing shapes and differences.
Providence delivered boxes of fresh, locally grown produce to our facility each week. Children joined taste tests and helped prepare food. Cooking and repeated opportunities to explore foods invited curiosity about new flavors and textures.
Learning in action: sensory exploration, hands-on food preparation, and participation.
Every family received produce to take home each week. At the end of the study, each child received farmers’ market vouchers for their family, connecting our learning with fresh food and our local community.
Learning in action: family connection, community awareness, and everyday learning beyond childcare.
STEP 05 · OUR GRAND FINALE · ANDERSON, CALIFORNIA
Our field trip connected the seeds we planted and the produce we explored with a visit to the farm itself.

Science. Language. Early math. Practical skills. Community.
A connected curriculum, experienced through play.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PROMISE

OWNER & PROVIDER
A mother of four, a childcare provider, and a lifelong believer in children’s possibilities.
I own and operate Pinky Promised Childcare here in Redding. I know how much it matters to feel comfortable with the person caring for your child, and I want families to feel seen and supported, too.
I’m continuing my education in Early Childhood Education and Social Science at Shasta College, with a particular interest in inclusion, emotional regulation, and supporting children with challenging behaviors.
My long-term dream is to open a center that supports children with autism and different developmental needs. That vision keeps me learning and brings intention to the care I offer today.

PARTNER & SUPPORT
You may not always see Bill, but his presence is always felt. He’s my partner, my biggest supporter, and a special part of the muscle behind Pinky Promised. He brings a playful spirit to his time with the children and steady support to everything happening behind the scenes.
From the little details that keep our days moving to the bigger dreams for our program, Bill is always in my corner. His encouragement and willingness to help keep us running, and I’m grateful to build this caring community with him.

My daughter-in-law and part of the Pinky Promised team.
